After sampling all of Carmel Valley Village’s wine tasting rooms (there are 20 here, all within walking distance of one another, interspersed between art galleries and restaurants), check into Bernardus Lodge & Spa, an upscale ranch resort with a fabulous farm-to-table eatery, or stay at the more wallet-friendly Carmel Valley Lodge, where every unit has a fireplace and either a wooden deck, balcony, or private patio with mountain views.
